Takeshi, it is Mattie Ross. Has anyone come to help you yet? You should come to the garden and stay in the camp, either the big one or mine on the second level.
[So his words drag a little at the edges, which could just be the pain medication, but he sounds pretty damn out of it too and that's all concussion. But other than being concussed and banged up - nasty bruises, broken rib or two, nothing big - he's fine.
Oh yeah except for that alone in his room and jacked up on pain pills part.]
[After a close call with running off and making a bigger mess, Takeshi's got something to finally focus toward; Netherland's drops him off at the SEC office, no doubt giving him a short, sure list of things to Not Do while he's on his own (or rather, away from the country). Takeshi wastes no time in wandering in, his comm clutched between his arms as his gaze wanders around the area.
So this is where things are planned. Where people try to protect everyone else.
He's got his Gantz suit on--he hopes he can protect people with it someday.]
Buddy, I need to ask you for a favor. There's gonna be a soccer game - a big one, hopefully - and we need an award to give out for the most valuable player. I think if you drew something it'd be perfect. Whaddaya say? Think you can help us out?
The first memory is a kind one. Takeshi's holding a hand — large, strong, but gently holding his — as they cross a busy street in Tokyo. Takeshi looks from the hand holding his to an ice-cream in other, half-devoured; the sun is out, people are bustling, but when he glances up there's a skyscraper of a man keeping a nice bubble of personal space around them. Clearly his large presence makes people second-guess walking too close to him. Emotions — love, fondness, trust, happiness — trek through the boy's mind. Dad. Kaze looks down, frown deepening a little.
"Your ice cream..."
Takeshi looks back and finds it sliding off the cone; he gasps, a surprised yelp, and starts to eat against a brain freeze. Kaze just laughs, deep and rich even though it's underused.
*****
"Dad!! Frisbees!!"
"What — ?!"
The boy is wedged close to his father, held by one of his strong muscular arms while Takeshi stays tucked close to Kaze's neck. As he peers over his dad's shoulder, heartbeat thundering in his chest, he sees a blood-red sky and ships and large metal creations. Skyscrapers are being destroyed by beams of light. Some of the robots are smashing their giant arms into buildings. Rubble rains down, flicking against Takeshi's shoulders. Luckily none of it hurts him or his father, thanks to the leather suits they're wearing. The people around them are not as lucky, though; Takeshi watches with wide eyes as these 'frisbees' come flying left and right at the fleeing crowds. Takeshi watches as heads and skull caps and limbs are sliced away from bodies, guts spilling out before the dead men, women, and children can even collapse properly.
Kaze turns and ducks, and Takeshi watches as the large spinning objects fly by, inches above them. Screams reverberate where the sound of explosions don't engulf the air. He tucks his face away in his father's shoulder, overwhelmed by the scene.
"Don't look," Kaze says unhelpfully, too little too late. Takeshi looks back up, vision bobbing as they run, as a little girl and her brother scream and cry in the street, shrinking as they go; a giant machine bashes through the apartment complex next to them, and it can only be assumed they were crushed in the falling debris.
Hey, buddy. Just wanted to say hi. I feel pretty sick so I'm gonna go take a nap or something and I'll come by right after, okay? You call if you need me for anything. Or just come over, I'll key the door up to let you in. See you soon.
[Because there is something to be said towards training with people your size, as much as it is important to know how to battle taller people. And adding more children to their dagger fighting training group sounds like a good idea. Swapping special knowledge about different chances and limits, though... plus, getting strong is important. If you're weak, that only means that bullies will find you easier to pick on.
And going by the pillow idea, Takeshi seems to be a good friend to have.]
[ Jayden actually does come from a world with a gift-giving winter holiday! She just... forgot to mention as much. Oops? Honestly, it's because she usually doesn't care. But this year, it's different.
So! Outside of Takeshi's door, there is now a rather largestuffed panda. It stands pretty well on its own, but is also super soft and squishy! And there's a note tied to its paw, that simply reads: "To Takeshi, Happy Dawning - Jayden"
